Glenbrook Child Development Center & Walton Inspires STEM Academy

Darion and Varion Walton grew up in a small town in East Texas, where their mother instilled in them the core values that would shape their futures: the importance of education and healthcare. Both twins, driven by a shared desire to serve their community, attended college together and graduated with degrees in business, but their paths diverged in different directions—each following their own passion for making a difference.

Darion, drawn to the idea of shaping young minds, entered the field of education, becoming a teacher and later an education leader. He saw firsthand the challenges that many students, particularly those from underserved communities, faced in achieving their fullest potential. The dream of a more equitable, innovative educational system began to form in his mind. He wanted to create a place where every child, no matter their background, had access to the opportunities and resources that would help them succeed.

Varion, on the other hand, chose to pursue a career in healthcare. As a registered nurse, he dedicated his career to caring for people in their most vulnerable moments. But, over time, Varion saw the link between health and education, realizing that without proper education, many families faced even greater challenges in achieving wellness. His experiences reinforced his belief that empowering individuals with knowledge—both about their health and the world around them—was a key factor in transforming communities.

Their paths eventually converged when they both came to understand that education and healthcare were intertwined in the well-being of families. They realized that they could combine their skills and passions to create something greater—Walton Inspires. This platform was designed to inspire not only students but also teachers, parents, and entire communities, focusing on educational excellence and community health.

However, their ultimate vision went beyond just advocacy and resources. Darion and Varion knew that true impact could only come from building something tangible—a place where their combined passions for education and health could thrive together. And so, Walton Inspires STEM Academy (WISA) was born.

​

WISA was created to provide a hands-on, holistic approach to learning, where children could explore STEM subjects through creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving—all while being supported in their emotional and physical well-being. Darion and Varion’s goal was to build an environment where children not only excelled academically but also developed the social-emotional skills and physical health they needed to navigate the world confidently.

With WISA, Darion and Varion Walton are now able to provide a space where their shared values—education, healthcare, and community empowerment—are woven into every aspect of school life. And through their work, they continue to honor the legacy of their mother, who showed them that the best way to serve others is by empowering them with the tools they need to succeed.
