Mad About Math
Students will be introduced to basic math skills through hands on activities. For example, one week students will measure pumpkins and then count the seeds inside. Another week, students might sort candies in a package by color and then create a graph to represent the numbers. In addition, games and activities will be utilized to teach and reinforce such skills as coin recognition and coin counting, telling time to the hour and half hour, ordering numbers, making patterns, identifying shapes, measurement, and basic addition and subtraction. A read aloud will be included as a part of each lesson.
